James (Pappy) Serven, age 75, of Fostoria, MI passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Marlette Regional Hospital Hospice Residence in Marlette, MI. Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, July 31, at Avram Funeral Home in Mayville with Deacon Joe Schierlinger officiating. The family will receive visitors 1-8 PM Tuesday, July 30, at the Avram Funeral home. Internment will take place at Watertown Township Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post #181 and Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884. Memorial contributions may be made to the family discretionary fund. James was born April 4, 1938 in Genesee township son of Leo and Minnie (Diekotter) Serven. He graduated from Millington High School in 1956. James retired from Fisher Body in Flint after 32 years of service. He loved motorcycling, playing guitar, flea markets, hunting, whittling, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and being a custom knife maker. James is survived by four sons; Duane Serven of Mancelona, Karl Serven of Gaylord, David (Heidi) Serven of Gaylord, and Daren Serven of Gaylord. Two daughters; Darlene (Michael) Seaman of Kingston and Deborah (Dennis) of Kingston. One brother; George (Georgie) Serven of FL. Two sisters; Ellen Spohn of Columbiaville, and Ruth Frick of Mt. Pleasant. He is also survived by seven special grandchildren. James was preceded in death by one daughter; Karen Serven and his parents.
